Inanna’s Echo

A solo exhibition by Agnes Ishak 2020

STATEMENT

A symbolic and expressive exhibition, created from artistic perspectives about findings and beliefs. The exhibit is influenced by the mythological tales of Inanna (Ishtar), an ancient Mesopotamian goddess, associated with love, beauty, sex, fertility, war, justice and political power. “Inanna” was originally worshiped in Sumer and was later worshiped by the Akkadians, Babylonians and Assyrians under the name Ishtar.

This is a call for the awakening and rising of “Inanna” to break free from deep down under the ground, after thousands of years, stuck behind seven gates. A call to connect and interact with our past and learn about the messages that our ancestors have left for us through art, structures, buildings, symbols and myths that have been around for thousands of years, left in a state of hibernation.

The aim of this exhibition is to be one of many more. To grow and move around, to invite other art work carrying the same values and eventually reach an international scale.
